I have often shared in this blog, that I have felt a “call” to prepare for many years. I have also discussed (recently) the need to intensify preparation. World concerns have been moving us toward an “event” at a much more rapid pace – and many people are beginning to get more nervous and certainly afraid.
My intent, is not to scare – but to impress upon folks the need to prepare. I realize the “get prepared” message is a bit ambiguous, and certainly there are people and groups out there that are pressing extreme views and radical ideas. Some are purposefully preying on the fears of individuals. The preparation call I have felt for over 10 years, is not about having fear – rather, it’s about being able to stay calm and deal effectively during the coming crisis.
We have developed a society of convenience and comforts. We get up-to-the minute news by clicking a mouse and have been conditioned to expect information in 30 second soundbites. We keep up with friends and celebrities and often base our relationships with people by reading a two-sentence post on twitter. In so many ways, we have become shallow and overly self-pleasured.

As we continue with the assignment of sharing the need for preparation, it seems we are now joined by the US Government in proclaiming the need to prepare for the Last Days Apocalypse.
In fact, in a recent and popular post on the Center for Disease Control site there was a somewhat disturbing article entitled “Preparedness -101: Zombie Apocalypse“.
Do you think the US Government knows something they are not fully disclosing to a sheepish public? Well of course they do.
I am quite sure the title of this recent article was carefully chosen to create attention and interest from a generation that seems to be strangely fascinated with the horror element and the spread of death through viral interactions. I certainly understand the desire for the Center for Disease Control to market their message of preparedness and certainly recognize the need to alert people of the need to prepare for difficult events.
However… as I read the article on the CDC website it does not really impact me as simply an attention-grabbing horror show fantasy. The fact is, the Bible has already disclosed the events that will unfold and has given us warning that we should be prepared for such events. Why are we now so surprised that even secular Governments are beginning to recognize the times that we live?
In the Book of Revelation we read:
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Rev. 6:8
I believe it is quite ironic that the US Government CDC website used a viral death plague as an apocalyptic description. The CDC urges us to get prepared because such a scenario is not out of the question. The fact is, the Bible has already given us this warning.
Governments regularly shout the message to their people to get prepared for earthquakes, famines, flood, disease, unusual weather events, and terrorism. We regularly hear of wars and rumors of wars, and even receive warning of impending disasters in the heavens (increasing solar flares, meteors, comets, etc). (more…)

Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone. Titus 3:1-2
This is such a spectacular verse! You may not be a Christian or of the same beliefs, but there’s no denying that the above verse can be applied to everyone’s life. It just isn’t something we always want to hear, is it? Especially in the heat of a moment or time of frustration or those periods when you want to just isolate yourselves and take care of your own. But take a moment to really let that sentence sink in.
I find that the section in particular that sums up the entire verse is “to be ready to do whatever is good”. To be ready! That’s another way of saying ‘prepare’. Everyone should be ready to do whatever is good, not only in the easy times, but more so in the difficult times. To be considerate, peaceable and gentle toward everyone!
As you take this journey and are preparing, you cannot neglect your heart. Preparation is a process that should go deeper than solely learning which alternative shelter to choose or how to store enough food. This is a journey that takes heart and you cannot lose a grip on your foundation. Yes, learn all that you can and prepare in the physical and external sense of the word. Yet always remember that external circumstances can quickly shift. Put your hope in the living God and not in how well you prepare. So that then you can be ready to do whatever is good even in the most difficult moments.

Life has such challenges – and we are increasingly called to Prepare for the difficulties ahead. It is important that we recognize the source of our strength and the provider of our needs. We should show and share gratitude in the midst of trials.
Devotion:
Life often presents challenges that test our spirit and resolve, pushing us to the brink of despair. Yet, in these moments of trial, we are called to a posture not of defeat, but of thankfulness. It may seem counterintuitive to express gratitude when faced with adversity, but it is precisely in these moments that our faith is refined and our character strengthened.
The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Thessalonians, reminds us of this truth: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV). Paul’s words are not mere platitudes; they are the hard-earned wisdom of a man familiar with suffering. Paul knew that thankfulness in hardship is not about denying the pain or difficulty of our circumstances. Rather, it is about acknowledging God’s presence in the midst of our trials and trusting in His sovereign goodness.
Thankfulness opens our eyes to see God’s hand at work, even in the darkest times. It shifts our focus from our problems to God’s promises, from our fears to His faithfulness. When we give thanks, we declare that our circumstances do not define us; our identity is anchored in Christ.
Moreover, a heart of gratitude paves the way for God’s peace to guard our hearts and minds. As we navigate life’s difficulties, preparedness is not just about the practical steps we take; it’s about the spiritual posture we adopt. Being prepared means cultivating a resilient spirit, one that is anchored in the unshakeable truths of God’s word and His character.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, in the midst of life’s trials, help me to hold fast to a spirit of thankfulness. Remind me of Your constant presence and Your unchanging goodness. May my heart be anchored in gratitude, and may Your peace guard my heart and mind as I navigate the challenges ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Many people have been anticipating a disastrous time that would bring difficulties to our very existence. They believe that their very survival will depend on the ability to overcome and adapt to certain tragic events.
In my own life journey, there have been many people I have encountered who have predicted our “impending doom”. It seems to me that there will always be people out there who spread fear, gloom, and despair about a coming event that will alter the course of our lives. Everyone remembers Y2k and the giant “gotcha” feeling that came when nothing happened. I’ve come to realize, many of the people who were screaming about the coming disaster of Y2K, are now spreading fear about some looming event in the future.
The problem for me is… we are creating some of the disaster with the message of fear and destruction, rather than giving people hope.
On Y2K, my alarm clock went off, my computer turned on, and the power grid did not fail. I was ready (and almost anticipating) a difficult period of time. It was almost a disappointment that I had spent time worrying about what might happen.
You see, the fact that so many people are anticipating some major catastrophe, is what really concerns me. I meet so many people who have given up “hope” because they just don’t see the point anymore. They live their lives wondering – “why hope, when there is a disaster coming?”. That’s a terrible existence, and certainly not the way I want to live my life.
I imagine the early settlers of America really didn’t sit around and worry about a cataclysmic event that would suddenly end their lives. If they did, why would they have ventured from their homeland in the first place? Why not sit at home and wait on destruction from there?
Well, I guess they had hope of a better life and were willing to endure hardships in pursuit of that life. I’m thankful that they did – as it paved the way for where we are today in the US.
The point for me is, there may be difficulties coming. In fact, my belief is there are definitely difficult times ahead. My “call” is NOT to sit around and wait on the collapse of our existence, rather, to prepare so that when that day arrives – I can share hope with those who are in fear and distress.
For a long time, I have felt that the Lord was bringing me to a place of preparation. I was never quite sure what that meant, but certainly did not go around telling everyone that the “sky was falling”. On the contrary, I have tried to raise my children to have HOPE in the things that were ahead – and to live each day with passion and joy. My eternity is secure, and my Joy is in Christ (Yeshua).
So what is all this talk of preparation?
For me, it is getting myself and my family prepared for the great opportunity that awaits us – and especially the joy of a great harvest that will come.
Make no mistake, there are major challenges ahead. Those who have been slumbering, and wasteful, will awaken to find an empty cubbard. They will certainly be afraid when they realize they are hungry, and have foolishly wasted their time acquiring pleasures – rather than preparing.
God is our refuge and strength. He is calling us to prepare – not live in Fear, but walk in Faith. The first step of Faith, is to accept Jesus Christ (Yeshua) as the messiah.

My lovely wife, Donna shared the following:
When reading the Scriptures, it never ceases to amaze me of how God speaks on more than one ‘level’ within each context. It is my observation and opinion that He usually speaks in His Word on three main levels at once. Today, He lead me to a portion that really works as that example.
Here are the ways I see that God speaks all at the same time:
1. Spiritual. He of course speaks to us in our Spiritual walk with Him. The Word is full of reminders of our walk and how He is our Restorer and His Promises are True. He guides us by what we should and should not do for our Spiritual well being.
2. Literal/Physical – Yes, the Bible is historical, but more than that I believe God tells us physically what has happened, what WILL happen and personally where we are/will be in this life. He speaks of our physical place (where we live or move) and our position or role in this life.
3. Israel – As God’s Chosen Race, He always is wooing His beloved people. Each verse has something to say to the Hebrew Nation. In times of prosperity, war or His return. All verses are pointed for the Chosen People of God.
